What is PDR? – Paintless Dent Removal

The process of PDR (paintless dent removal) and how metal reacts when a dent is removed is what drives Dent Werks PDR. If you have a dent that may possibly be removed using PDR, Jake wants to be the one to do it. When a panel of a vehicle is dented the metal is pushed in and in a lot of cases creates a crown or a buckle, hence a dent.

Jake Kelm, owner of Dent Werks PDR says, “the way it was explained while I was training, was to think about tossing a rock into a pond and when the rock hits the water, the water is disturbed as it creates a wave around the impacted area. The water travels on the path of least resistance so it creates a crown around the point of impact.” This is very similar to how the metal reacts when a dent occurs. The metal is displaced and the displaced metal or the crown (buckle) must be pushed in to release the metal so it will come up or out. A lot of PDR technicians in the paintless dent removal industry like to use words like manipulating metal to its original form. PDR is not an easy repair.

In fact it takes many many years of experience and practice to perfect paintless dent removal. PDR or Paintless dent removal is an art form and we at DentWerks PDR take a lot of pride and passion in our work. Hence our slogan, “MASTERING THE ART OF PAINTLESS DENT REMOVAL.” Don’t take our word for it; see our testimonials or take a look at some of the before and after photos to see how exceptional our capabilities of removing dents using paintless dent removal can be.

This BMW X5 has a huge dent in the front right door. Normally this huge dent would have to be repaired at a body shop. The body shop would sand the door, add filler and paint the door in order to repair it. The depth of the dent and the stretch of the metal would lead most PDR techs to turn down this job. Jake Kelm of DentWerks PDR takes a dent like this as a challenge. At DentWerks PDR we repaired the dent on the body line and in the lower and upper half of the door using PDR (paintless dent repair).

Our years of experience in PDR and working with large dents like this BMW X5 lead us to be able repair this dent with the quality achieved. Dent Werks PDR exceeded our customers expectations. The original paint finish was preserved and the resale value of the truck is preserved as well. Needless to say, this repair would have cost between $1,200-$1,600 at a body shop and the vehicle would have to be painted. DentWerks PDR would charge $400-$700 for a repair of this size and damage.
